Message of Condolence

The Conservative Friends of India conveys its heartfelt condolences on the sudden demise of Mrs. Sushma Swaraj, a senior BJP leader and a former External Affairs Minister of India in the Hon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji’s Government from 2014 to 2019.

Mrs. Swaraj worked tirelessly to help the Indian community and the Indian diaspora settled around the world magnificently. She was well known and loved by everyone for her dedication and commitment for her Party the BJP and India. She always helped her fellow Indians who faced difficulties. She was proactive and reacted even on Twitter, thereby providing instant support. She built a reputation of compassion and was always there to help those in need.

The Hon President of India, Ram Nath Kovind said India has "lost a much loved leader who epitomised dignity, courage and integrity in public life, ever willing to help others, she will always be remembered for her service to the people of India".

The Hon Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Mrs. Swaraj, he said, "A glorious chapter in Indian politics comes to an end. India grieves the demise of a remarkable leader who devoted her life to public service and bettering lives of the poor. Sushma Swaraj Ji was one of her kind, who was a source of inspiration".

Dr Rami Ranger CBE, Co- Chairman of the Conservative Friends of India said, “ we the 1.3 billion Indians along with other communities are devastated with the sudden demise of our iconic leader. People come and go but very few touch the hearts of so many. Sushma Ji, will always live in our hearts and her legacy will act as a beacon for others and her significant role in public life will remain an inspiration for us all”.
