Sir Oliver Dowden CBE MP is a senior British Conservative politician who has held several prominent roles in government and he has represented the constituency of Hertsmere in Hertfordshire since 2015.
Sir Oliver's ministerial career has been particularly notable, having served as Minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General (2019-2020), Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (2020-2021), and as Co-Chairman of the Conservative Party (2021-2022). In 2022, he was appointed Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and Deputy Prime Minister. He was knighted in 2023 for his political service.
Before entering Parliament, Sir Oliver established himself as a political strategist, serving as Deputy Chief of Staff to Prime Minister David Cameron and previously working as a special adviser in the Conservative Research Department. Throughout his career, he has been known for his detailed policy knowledge and calm, methodical approach to government.
