Dame Priti has served as the Member of Parliament for Witham in Essex since 2010. Her ministerial career has been distinguished by several high-profile appointments, most notably as Home Secretary (2019-2022), where she oversaw significant reforms to the UK's immigration system and police services. She previously served as Secretary of State for International Development (2016-2017) and has held various other ministerial roles. Her political approach has been characterised by forthright advocacy for traditional conservative values, including a firm stance on law and order, national security, and controlled immigration. She was made a Dame Commander of the British Empire in 2023 for her political service.
Before entering Parliament, Dame Priti worked in corporate communications for Weber Shandwick and later served as International Director for Conservative Friends of Israel.
