Atul Pathak is one of the UK’s most successful franchise entrepreneurs. Arriving from India in 1984, he opened his first restaurant in 2003 and now employs more than 3,000 staff who between them will serve over 28 million customers this year.
He places much importance on the individual development and training of each of his staff as he sees them as the key to the success of the business, emphasising that everyone understands and values the importance of honesty, integrity and hard work. He also supports staff through extensive training and development programme.
Atul is also actively involved in the communities where his business operate. He lends his support from working in schools alongside the London Education Business Partnership, hiring challenging young people, supporting youth football, carrying out regular clean-up campaigns and more recently signing the Armed Forces Covenant to recognize the contribution made by the country’s defence forces and their families.
In addition to supporting a charity which provides home away from home accommodation for parents with ill children, he funds and organizes the annual Atul Pathak Community Awards, always held in the House of Commons, to recognise the valuable work of charities in the local communities near his restaurants.
Atul was awarded the OBE for Service to Entrepreneurship in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List of 2015.
Atul has been awarded a number of awards recognising his work for communities, including Honorary Degree from the University of West London.
