Members, Ambassadors and Patrons in attendance at the Conservative Friends of India 2026 Spring Reception.

We were delighted to host the Conservative Friends of India Spring Reception at the House of Lords earlier this week, welcoming over 150 guests to the Cholmondeley Room & Terrace.

The evening brought together parliamentarians, business leaders and members of the British Indian community, reflecting the strength of the UK–India relationship and the important role the community continues to play in it.

We were pleased to hear from Nusrat Ghani MP, His Excellency Vikram Doraiswami, and Baroness Verma whose speeches highlighted the scale of opportunity to deepen cooperation between our two countries - particularly across trade, innovation and political engagement.

More broadly, the reception reflected the vital work of Conservative Friends of India in bringing together parliamentarians, businesses and communities to strengthen the UK–India relationship in a practical and meaningful way. It provided an opportunity to connect, exchange views and continue building the relationships that underpin this partnership.

It was particularly encouraging to see so many of our members and ambassadors in the room. Your continued support is what allows Conservative Friends of India to grow its reach and impact across the country.

With the local elections in May fast approaching, the coming weeks will be crucial. While events like this are important, the real work now continues on the ground - and it is vital that we are all out campaigning, supporting candidates, and making the case for the Conservative Party where it matters most.

We are very grateful to Baroness Verma for her generous hosting of the event in the Cholmondeley Room, and to the High Commission of India for their continued support and sponsorship of the event. Their backing was instrumental in enabling us to host such a successful reception in the House of Lords.
