In Leicester, Sir Oliver Dowden MP and Dr Koolesh Shah officially launched the Conservative Friends of India Ambassador Program, a national initiative designed to engage community leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals in shaping CF India’s work and strengthening its grassroots presence.

The Ambassador Program enables volunteers to represent CF India in their local areas, building community relationships, supporting engagement activities, and showcasing the shared values and connections between the UK and India. Ambassadors take on a range of responsibilities, including:

• Hosting or co-hosting at least one CF India event annually, such as cultural celebrations, community receptions, or policy roundtables.

• Leading local CF India campaign days within their constituencies or regions.

• Facilitating meetings between CF India leadership and local political or community figures.

• Sharing updates and promoting CF India activities online.

• Encouraging new members to join and contributing to the wider growth of the organisation.

• Submitting an annual report reflecting on activities and future plans, with formal annual reviews to recognise achievements and share best practices.

Dr Koolesh Shah, Co-Chair of CF India, said:

"This program is an open invitation for anyone who shares our vision and passion. We want to empower British Indians nationwide, amplify their voices, and strengthen our national network. Leicester will always remain at the heart of our mission and ambition to make a lasting difference."

Kemi Badenoch MP, Leader of the Conservative Party said:

The Conservative Friends of India have made an enormous contribution to strengthening ties between our Party and India. The new Ambassador Programme is an exciting opportunity for more people to get involved and make a real difference locally and with Brits of Indian origin.”

We encourage applicants to apply by the 12th December so we can welcome our first cohort of Ambassadors for 2026.
