CF India Meets Dr Shashi Tharoor to Discuss the Future of UK–India Relations

CF India was delighted to meet Dr Shashi Tharoor MP for a wide-ranging and insightful discussion on the enduring and evolving relationship between the United Kingdom and India.

Dr Tharoor is one of India’s most prominent public figures: a bestselling author, a former Under-Secretary-General at the United Nations, and a four-term Member of Parliament for Thiruvananthapuram. A leading voice in Indian politics and international affairs, he has long championed closer global cooperation and a forward-looking vision for India’s place in the world.

During our conversation, we explored the growing ties between the UK and India, the vital role played by the Indian diaspora in British society, and the deep cultural, economic, and democratic values that bind our two countries together. We also touched on shared global challenges – from climate change to digital transformation – and the opportunities that greater bilateral cooperation can bring in addressing them.

Dr Tharoor spoke about the importance of building on our countries’ historic links with a modern, collaborative outlook that reflects the aspirations of young people, entrepreneurs, and leaders across both nations. His insights highlighted the value of people-to-people connections and the mutual benefits of a stronger, values-based partnership.

CF India remains committed to fostering dialogue, strengthening relationships, and supporting collaboration between British and Indian communities. We look forward to continuing this important conversation and to working with partners across politics, business, and civil society to advance the UK–India partnership.
